Maria Freitas Obituary

Stoughton Maria N. (Jorge) Freitas, 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, at her home, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Jorge Freitas. Born in Flores, Azores, Portugal, she was raised and educated there. She moved to the United States in 1969 and settled in Stoughton. Mrs. Freitas worked at Quality Steel in Stoughton from 1969 until her retirement in 1985. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and gardening. She is survived by her children, Duartina Serpa and her husband Joe of Canada and John Freitas and his wife Linda of Stoughton. She was the sister of Jose Jorge of Portugal, Deodette Fortuna of Brockton and Americ Jorge of Florida. In addition to her husband, she was deceased by her children, Joao and Anibal. She is also survived by six grandchildren; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton, Saturday at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 9 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-7 p.m. Directions and obituary at www.farleyfh.com.
