Ruby Foley Obituary

WHITMAN Ruby L. (Johnson) Foley, 93, died unexpectedly, in her home, Friday, Aug. 29, 2008. She was the wife of the late George J. Foley Sr. and former wife of the late Norman H. Joubert. Born in Brockton, she was a daughter of the late William S. and Florence N. (Sherman) Johnson. She became the first school nurse at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School from opening day in 1960 to her retirement in 1985. She was a former Whitman Visiting Nurse and member of the Board for the Visiting Nurse Association as well as a volunteer for many of the American Red Cross blood banks. She was an active member of the Whitman Senior Citizens and enjoyed her many friends there. She was a member of the original building committee for the development of the Senior Center in Whitman. She was a prolific member of the Tuesday Knitters, and though she was legally blind, she was able to produce hundreds of items for the homeless, including afghans, hats and mittens. She is survived by her son, Philip Phil Joubert and his wife Kathryn of Whitman; her grandchildren, Michelle Lauretano and her husband Ralph of Stoneham, Ren Worden and her husband Ken of Whitman, Peter Joubert of Whitman and Aime Joubert of Whitman; her great-grandchildren, Emily, Gianna and Jack; her sisters, Norma Brewer of Honeybrook, Pa., and Linda Rinaldi of Braintree; and many nieces and nephews.
