Edmund Orentas Obituary

NAPLES, Fla. Edmund F. "Ed" Orentas, died Aug. 28, 2008. Born in Lithuania, Sept. 8, 1938, he immigrated with his parents and siblings to the United States after World WarII and called Brockton, Mass., his hometown. He grew up in Brockton and lived in the area during most of his life, except when on active duty in military service or on various short term assignments in the insurance industry. Ed graduated in 1962 from Northeastern University in Boston with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He participated in the ROTC program during his college studies and was commissioned an officer in the U. S. Army shortly after graduation. In 1965, he resigned from active duty and pursued a business career for the next 36 years with several major insurance companies. He retired in 2001 from Utica National Insurance Group and relocated to Naples. Ed is survived by his two sons, Todd and Neil Orentas of Taunton, Mass.; his sister, Birute "Bobby" Suziedelis of Naples; and four nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements and interment will be private. The family requests your warm wishes and prayers and suggests that those wishing to make donations in Ed's name do so to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105. www.fullerfuneralhome.com Pine Ridge Road 239-592-1611

Ed, My daughters and I talk about the fun times we had with you quite often. You always made us laugh so hard, and when you started laughing it was so contagious that we would laugh with you so hard we´d all have tears in our eyes. You were a wonderful grandfather to Sarah, Jessica and Gabby, and a fantastic stepfather to me. We all miss you dearly. I´ll see you again some day and we can laugh together all over again. Love you so much.

Mr. Orentas,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow servicemen stood ready to defend our Country.
