Joseph Foley Obituary

EAST BRIDGEWATER Joseph Auby Foley, 87, of East Bridgewater, died Sept. 15, in Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Gloria Y. (Cote) Foley. He was born in Newmarket, New Brunswick, son of the late Lambert and Ethel (Murphy) Foley. Auby lived in Maine and Abington, before moving to East Bridgewater over 50 years ago. He worked as a highway construction foreman for many local companies. He also did maintenance for the Brockton Headstart. Auby was a professional musician, who played the fiddle and loved Country Western and Irish music and was a member of the Massachusetts Country Music Award Association. He also served in the Canadian Merchant Marines during World War II. He is survived by his three daughters and their husbands, Linda and Timothy Morris of Marion, Janet and Kenneth Brooks of East Bridgewater, Nancy and Stephen Walsh of Sagamore Beach; grandfather of Sean Gorman, Caitlin Morris, Jason and Dennis Brooks, Matthew and Adam Walsh, Mechele Foley and Meaghan Foley: great-grandfather of Cory and Catherine Gorman, Kayla and Stephen Brooks, Cameron, Noah and Amelia Walsh. Also his dear friend, Marie Gillis of Brockton; many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late James and Dennis Foley and brother of the late Lambert, Earl, Norman Foley and Winifred Bourque. His services will be held Friday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle), Whitman. Interment will follow in Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, from 5-8 p.m. Donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
