Alice Brown Obituary

EAST BRIDGEWATER Alice L. Brown (Strong), a 65 year resident of East Bridgewater, died Friday, at the Life Care Center in West Bridgewater, at the age of 94. Born and raised in Chelsea, a daughter of the late George E. & Matilda (Murphy) Strong, she was a graduate of Chelsea High School. Alice was a homemaker who enjoyed reading and singing. She was a member of the East Bridgewater Senior Citizens and the Melodians. Alice was most fond of spending time with her family and her home. She was the wife of the late Frederick W. Brown Sr.; mother of Elizabeth Murphy and her husband Edward, Gerald Brown Sr. and his wife Sue, all of East Bridgewater, Thelma Hamel and her husband James of Bridgewater and the late Frederick W. Brown Jr.; mother-in-law of Sandra Brown of East Bridgewater; sister of Herbert Strong of Everett; also survived by 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, in the Central Square Congregational Church, 71 Central Square, Bridgewater, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Visiting hours are Tuesday, in the Prophett- Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, (formerly Wales-Prophett) 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater, from 4-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Central Square Congregational Church, 71 Central Square, Bridgewater, MA. 02324.
