James Stewart Obituary

FORT MYERS, Fla. James E. Stewart, of North Fort Myers, formerly of Bridgewater, Mass., died Sept. 6, at Hope Hospice, after a brief illness. Jim was born Aug. 21, 1924, Zanesville, Ohio, to the Rev. Roy and Florence Stewart. After serving as a signalman on the USS Crouter in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he graduated from Boston University. He spent 32 years working for Proctor & Gamble in Quincy, Mass., before retiring to North Fort Myers. Jim loved to fish and loved to play golf at Six Lakes, where he and his wife Edna resided for the past 18 years. Jim was also a member of the Masons, Tropical Lodge No. 56. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, Edna; and three daughters, Cheryl (Scott) MacKinnon of Bridgewater, Bonnie Stewart and partner Jayne Brown of Cape Coral and Robin (Scott) Behrens of Punta Gorda. Papa will also be greatly missed by six grandchildren, Charlie, LeeAnn, Paul and Joshua MacKinnon, Amy Ault and Bobby Thomas; along with five great-grandchildren, R.J. Connelly, Savannah and Ryleigh Ault and Holden and Ariana Thomas. Also survived by his sister, Louise Cheslosky of North Fort Myers; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Hocking of Middleboro, Mass. Calling hours omitted. Burial will be held at Blue Hill Cemetery, in Braintree, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m.

Mr. Stewart,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USN in the Pacific during WW II as a "Tin Can Sailor" aboard the destroyer escort USS Crouter(DE 11). And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
