Mark Holt Obituary

Mark C. Holt WRENTHAM Mark Christen Holt, who was born a special child on Jan. 9, 1949, in Brockton, left this earth for Heaven Sept. 13, 2008. He is now resting with his mother, Norma (Nesmith) Holt; his aunts, uncles, grandparents; various dogs, cats and turtles. Mark spent 53 years of his life at the Wrentham Developmental Center in Wrentham. He outlived all predictions of a short life, he was not supposed to live past his teens and almost made it to the age of 60. He lost his sight 40 years ago but it did not slow him down. He was always willing to attend and participate in any functions offered to him. Mark is survived by his father, Chester Holt of Brockton; two brothers, David Holt and his wife Laura of Hope Valley, R.I., and Douglas Holt and his wife Paula of Harrison, Maine; three nephews, Timothy, Ryan and Gregory; and one niece, Michaela. The biggest family that he leaves behind is all those who cared for him at the Wrentham Development Center. This dedicated group of professionals became his daily family. They kept him active, healthy, warm and well loved. His passing leaves a big hole in their world. Through their efforts, Mark became a member of the Wrentham community. The community welcomed him with open arms as he did his banking, pumping gas or just buying a soda. Marks family thanks all who enriched his life, they know that he enriched yours. Rest in peace. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held Thursday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. in the Colebrook Cemetery, Essex Street, Whitman.
