John O'Sullivan Obituary

ABINGTON John J. OSullivan, 67, of Abington, formerly of Whitman, died Friday, Sept. 26, in South Shore Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Phyllis (Cox) OSullivan of Abington. John was born in Boston, son of the late Mortimer and Nora (Calnan) O Sullivan. He was brought up in Dorchester and attended Dorchester schools. He was a resident of Whitman for 20 years before moving to Abington 16 years ago. He was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Whitman. John was a laborer for the Local Union 223 for 40 years. He enjoyed visiting Maine, where he loved to go deep sea fishing out on the coast of Maine. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kevin OSullivan of Easton, Michael OSullivan and his wife Kim of East Bridgewater; his daughter, Maureen Belli of Medford; and his stepdaughter, Kellee Duckworth and her husband of New Hampshire; also six grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Paul and Susan O Sullivan. His funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 2, at 9:15 a.m., from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary), Whitman, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Interment will follow in the St. Patricks Cemetery, Rockland. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 4-8 p.m. Donations may be made in his name to Massachusetts General Hospital, Yawkey Cancer Center, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114. My prayers are with the family at this time. I have great memories of Sully at Jump n Jacks, the meat raffles the Legion and K of C. He will be missed.
