Charlotte DeYoung Obituary

EAST BRIDGEWATER Charlotte (Rhodes) DeYoung, 72, died Monday, Sept. 29, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Paul H. DeYoung. Born in Brockton, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Blanche (Farrar) Rhodes. She was raised in Whitman and was a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1954. She later moved to East Bridgewater, where she was a resident for over 38 years. Charlotte loved her part time jobs at North River Collaborative and driving for the handicapped, but she most enjoyed her grandchildren and following their activities. She had missed her beloved late cat Gilligan. She is survived by her children, John Andrews of East Bridgewater, Sheila LaFleur of Carver, Marylou Andrews of Carver, Maureen Andrews of West Virginia, Lisa Reid of East Bridgewater and Michelle Brown of Bridgewater. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; three nieces, Debra Staplekamp, Cheryl Correia and Annette Pegis; and one nephew, Anthony Apice. She was the sister of the late Carole Larson and great-grandmother of the late Christian Thomas OLoughlin. Her services will be held Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7:15 p.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary), Whitman. Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 3-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Seasons Hospice, Riverside Center, Suite 3-100, 275 Grove St., Newton, MA 02466, or to the Alzheimers Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
