Robert Dante Obituary

ROCKLAND Robert F. Dante, 78, of Rockland, formerly of Dorchester, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at West Roxbury VA Medical Center. A son of the late Frank and Helen (Byrnes) Dante, he was born May 3, 1930, and was raised and educated in Dorchester. Mr. Dante had been employed as a truck driver and equipment operator for the MDC for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was very involved at the Brockton VA Medical Center and volunteered his time. Mr. Dante loved the outdoors, enjoyed walks, reading and was an avid Bruins fan. He is survived by four nieces and nephews, James Murphy of Norwell, Denise Murphy of Framingham, Mary Dunn of Rockland and John Murphy of Florida. Also survived by many great-nieces and great- nephews. He was the brother of the late Ruth Dante, Ralph Dante and Lorraine Murphy. Funeral Mass Friday at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 403 Union St., in Rockland. Interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
