Mary Pietras Obituary

Mary Pietras TAUNTON Mary (Sopel) Pietras, 95 years old, died in Golden Living-Wedgemere Nursing Home, Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008. Born in Lubacz, Poland, to the late Joseph and Eva (Ossolinski) Sopel, she moved to this country at the age of 13, where she continued her education. She was the wife of the late John Pietras. She was married in Holy Rosary Church and had lived in the Whittenton section of Taunton before moving to East Taunton, where she became a communicant of Holy Family Church. She was textile mill worker for most of her life at the Ansonia Mills in East Taunton. She was a member of the East Taunton Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by a daughter, Helen Dustin and her husband Charles of Wareham; a son, John Jack Peitras and his wife Lynn of East Taunton. She was the mother of the late Janette Ducharme and her late husband Richard. She was the sister of Peter Sopel of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Janina Tabacrek of Poland. Mary was the grandmother of Sheila A. Ducharme of Taunton, Stephan R. Ducharme and his wife Karen of East Taunton, Kimberly Hamer and her husband Steve of Newmarket, N.H., and Karen Pietras of East Taunton; and was the great-grandmother of Tiffany and Nolan Santos, Michaelah Ducharme, Sean Ducharme, Jenna Ducharme and Andrew Ducharme. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral from the Sowiecki Funeral Home, 69 West Britannia St., Taunton, Saturday at 8 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial in Holy Family Church, East Taunton, at 9 a.m. Visiting hours Friday form 5-8 p.m. Interment in St. Josephs Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX.
