Elva Kiernan Obituary

Elva L. Kiernan MORRISVILLE, Pa. Elva L. (Manchester) (Briggs) Kiernan, 100, died Oct. 16, 2008, at her home, surrounded by her daughter and granddaughter. Born in Brockton, Mass., raised in Easton, Mass., she was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School. Mrs. Kiernan moved to Morrisville with her late husband, Michael J. Kiernan, where she was a longtime member of the Historical Somerseat and Morrisville Senior Center and a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Church, Titusville. Elva recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She had traveled extensively and as recently as this year, she went to Florida. She was an avid reader, gardener and puzzle solver. Elva also crocheted for family and charity. Elva was the wife of the late William F. Briggs; and mother to the late Robert L. and George F. Briggs. She is surviv- ed by her daughter, Barbara R. Farwell; four grandchildren, Lawrence R. Farwell, Linda J. Pape, Wendy A. Miller abd Cheryl A. Briggs; nine great-grandchildren, Laura M. Webb, Samantha L. Burton, Vicky L. Swisher, Valerie L. Kabutu, Hannah S. Farwell, Amanda, William and Jasmine Wise and Vlademir Miller; and eight great great-grandchildren. Services were held in Titusville. Memorial donations may be made to Chandler Hall Hospice, 99 Barclay St., Newton, PA 18940, or the Cancer Fund of America, 2901 Breesewood Lane, Knoxville, TN 37921-1099.
