Aucilia Mendes Obituary

Aucilia Mendes BROCKTON Aucilia Gomes Mendes, 63, of Brockton, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at her home in Brockton. She was the wife of Joao Violanta Mendes. Born Dec. 24, 1944, in Brava, Cape Verde, she was a daughter of the late Antonio Nicaleto and Emilia Gomes. Mrs. Mendes came to Brockton in 1967, where she worked for Plymouth Rubber Company and Concord Foods. She was a communicant of St. Edith Stein Parish. She is survived by her husband, Joao Violanta Mendes; her children, John Mendes Jr., Linda Xavier, Joanne Mendes and Anthony Mendes; her grandchildren, Johnny, Tyler, Celia, Jacklyn, Malik, Myles, Antonia, Jazmine, Nina and Anthony Jr.; her sisters and brothers, Gracia Gomes, Lucia DeBarros, Joaquim Gomes, Mariana Lobo, Joe Gomes, Kathy Brito, Maria Nicaleto and Raymond Nicaleto; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Friday, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Edward/St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
