Douglas Wales Obituary

ACAPULCO, Mexico Douglas E. Wales, age 69, of Acapulco, formerly of Whitman, Mass., and East Bridgewater, Mass., died suddenly, Sept. 29, 2008, at home in Acapulco. Mr. Wales was born in Brockton, Mass., March 20, 1939. He was a son of the late Albert and Hulda (Nyberg) Wales. He was raised and educated in Whitman and graduated from Whitman public schools. Mr. Wales also served four years in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Boston University and worked in the banking industry for several years before serving an apprenticeship in funeral directing and embalming under the late Bruce Anderton of the Anderton Funeral Homes of Whitman and East Bridgewater. He graduated from the New England Institute in Boston. Later, he assumed ownership of the two funeral homes. The Whitman home was later sold to Joubert's Clothing Store for their expansion. The business continued in East Bridgewater and he later retired and moved to Mexico. Douglas was a member and officer in the Sawtucket Lodge of Masons, which later merged into the Tri-Town Lodge. He also had an interest in restoring Model A Fords and was the owner of several. He is survived by several cousins and many friends. A committal service will be held in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman, Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. For information and to send condolences, please visit www.kanefuneralhome.com.

I knew Doug when I lived down the street from the funeral home in E.B. We used to get each other's mail by mistake. We were distant relations. Always enjoyed talking with him. He will be missed.
