William E. Seyfried Sr. MANSFIELD William E. Seyfried Sr., 85, recently of Willow Crossing in Mansfield, and a former longtime resident of Brockton, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at Epoch of Sharon. He was the beloved husband of the late Anne M. (McGuire) Seyfried, who passed away in 1984. Born in Rochester, N.Y., Aug. 24, 1923, he was a son of the late Gustave and Helen (Fogarty) Seyfried. He grew up and was educated in New York City. Upon graduating from Bayside High School in Queens, N.Y., he entered the U.S. Merchant Marines, proudly serving his country during World War II. Upon being discharged from the service, he started painting homes and opened his own paint store. He had formerly been employed as chief manager of the Pergement Paint Co. on Long Island, N.Y., and later was a sales manager for the Benjamin Moore Paint Co. A former communicant of St. Edwards Church in Brockton, Bill was a member of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Alumni Association at Kings Point. He was a talented artist who enjoyed picture painting, playing golf and traveling. He served as a golf ranger at the Cape Arundal Golf Course. Bill was a big supporter of the Republican Party and had the pleasure of personally meeting George H. Bush and George W. Bush. Prior to living in Mansfield for the past year, he was a former 40-year resident of Brockton. He is survived by his devoted children, Thomas N. Seyfried and his wife Karen of Foxboro, William E. Seyfried Jr. and his wife Carol of St. Paul, Minnesota and Helen Anne McCarthy and her husband Joseph of Mansfield. He was the loving grandfather of Melissa, Nicholas, Edward, Cullen, Patrick, Gregory, Erin and Peter; the proud great-grandfather of J.W. Roth; and was the brother of the late John Seyfried. His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 29, at 9 a.m. in St. Marys Church, 330 Pratt St. (Rte. 106), Mansfield. I first met your Father over 50 years ago when he came to work for Ben Moore. We moved to Boston in 1964 and continued our friendship as we worked together many times. As I think about him, many stories come to mind as we always had a great time together.
