I only knew Paul as Father in the 3 years (1956-59) I attended Cathedral High School. When we moved to the Boston area I rather at my earlier high school was from Boston & recommended Cathedral to me. Paul was very welcoming & made my family & myself very welcome to the Cathedral family. Especially as I had experience as a football manager & he needed one we got along fine. For the year I was at Cathedral Father was always present in guiding us in our studies & school activities. I had the pleasure of meeting with him at our 50th reunion.

As we approach the anniversary that you returned home to God, your loss is still felt for those of us whose lives you touched. Someday, when we take that same journey we pray that you will be there welcoming us as you did through so many years of your priesthood. Pray for us!

Dear Fr. Paul,
I didn't know God had called you home to Himself until this afternoon; I'm sorry I missed your funeral. Thank you for your many acts of kindness to me, for your time and attention during my years of illness. I don't know how I would have recovered without your support. I was honored to have you as a friend.
On behalf of all the parishioners of St. Patrick's in Natick, I wish to thank you -for everything-, but mere words don't suffice; our gratitude is beyond telling.
The Good Lord blessed the world BIG TIME when you were born January 19, 1911. And He let you live among us all these years as a beacon of hope, as His mercy and compassion personified.
May we all learn to live our lives imitating Christ as you did.
"Well done, Thy good and faithful servant." May we meet again someday.

I am so sorry for the loss of Fr. Moritz. He lived a very meaningful, full life serving God and will be missed by many.
BLEEDING HEARTS
Because of illness and tragic events
Families are forced to say goodbye
Talking, Tears and Time
Are the keys to help those left to cry.
Life changes for many when a life ends
It’s not easy at that time to stay sane
In your loved ones’ hearts and minds is where
Throughout their lifetime you will remain.
You will be remembered and loved —
The love stays and grows more intense
Memories of the heart are forever
Right now nothing may make any sense.
When death grows close for those left behind
What comfort to know there will be
A loved one waiting at Heaven’s door
Embracing them to God’s Spiritual Family.

My family and I offer our deepest sympathy to the Moritz Family. Father Paul was the chaplain at CHS when I was there. All ,of the student body, was so fortunate in having him as our chaplain. Father Paul showed us compassion, hope, peace, and joy by his example, of living his faith daily.
My wife and I were honored in having Father Paul as our witness when we were married 41 years ago. Knowing Father Paul was a very special gift. He was our treasure.
May all of us try to emulate Father Paul's life of living the gospel.
Sincerely,
Arthur Whittemore

Fr. Paul was my father's cousin. In fact his first wedding mass was for my parents over 60 years ago. I ran into Fr. Paul after mass when I lived in Norfolk. I invited him to my home where we looked through old family photos and he explained who they were and where they were taken. This was invaluable information for me as I was trying to accomplish the family geneology. He had my great, great grandmother's passport from Germany! He also helped the next generation to connect and now we have this great extended family. He was a wonderful, wonderful man and respected by so many. We will surely miss him.

The family and friends of Fr. Moritz were so fortunate to have him in their lives for so long a time. Cathedral High's Class of '59 were so looking forward to having him there to celebrate with us. I'm sure when we do come together in 2009 that many of our conversations and story-tellings will revolve around this wonderful man and the role he had in each of our young lives.

I
first met Father Moritz when I transferred to Cathedral HS from Connecticut.
He welcomed me with open arms. He soon learned I couldn't play football
& had been a manager of the Notre Dame Team and recruited me to work
with the Cathedral team. He was a great father figure, gentleman, priest
to all and totally in love with Cathedral and the TEAM! His guidance, leadership,
compassion and love carried through each day we were together during my three
years at Cathedral. I last spoke with him four years ago at our 45th reunion
and was again blessed by his kindness and great memory! His influence is
with me every day and I will be with him again. Ed Quirk - CHS - '59

It was my joy and privilege to have Father Paul as one of my uncles. He presided over most of our family's weddings and funerals, and you could count on his homilies to be memorable -- always original, personal, and non-dogmatic.
I believe that if all of our clergy had his qualities of mind and heart, religion would play a larger role in the lives of more people. His life was a constant act of grace, and he embodied what it means to be a servant of God.
Thank you, Father Paul, for all of the wonderful moments that you brought to our family's life.

Fr. Moritz was part of our family's spiritual life for many years before his retirement from St. Ann's Parish in Peabody. He administered our childrens sacraments as they grew up. He spent time with our son during an illness, and married our daughter Patricia at St. Ann's in 1982. In the past few years we were pleased that he was able to say the Mass there. It always made that Sunday special. He will always have a special place in our hearts.

I remember Fr Moritz as a wonderful friend of Fr Robert Cornor of St Judes in Norfolk. They were golf buddies. He was a wonderful priest and never looked his age. He will be missed by many as he also said mass at St Judes when needed. God Bless you Father Moritz.

My deepest sympathies to the Moritz family. I met Fr. Paul in 1962 at CHS and we remained very close friends through the years. He planned on attending my ceremony when I made Final Promises as a Secular Carmelite but ended up in the hospital. He concelebrated my daughter's wedding, I attended his 50th jubilee and visited with him only a couple of weeks ago at Regina Cleri. I had dropped him a note telling him I would try and see him today since I am going to be out of state for the holiday and will not return until Monday. I have such wonderful memories which I will treasure forever along with his letters filled with spiritual guidance. The Boston Archdiocese has lost a wonderful priest but heaven has gained a new member and I truly believe as he begins his new life that he will continue to be with us in spirit. God bless all of us who were priviledged to know him.
