Arthur Gill Obituary

Arthur S. Gill EASTON Arthur S. Gill, 91, a resident of Easton for the past 61 years, died Sunday evening, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Nona (Wheeler) Gill, for 63 years. Born in Quincy, April 23, 1917, a son of the late Joseph P. and Ida A. (King) Gill, he was raised and educated in Peddocks Island and Quincy. A disabled veteran of World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a gunner. He was discharged as a private and was the recipient of both the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Arthur began his working career as a fisherman, later he became a custodial foreman for the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, in Brockton, for many years. He had a passion for farming, gardening and growing vegetables and flowers and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. In addition to his wife Nona, he is survived by two sons, Ronald Gill of Easton and Steven Gill of Easton; a daughter, Deborah Gill of Arrowsic, Maine; three grandchildren, Gregory Gill of Foxboro, Derek Gill of Easton and Stephanie Wood of Taunton; and seven great-grandchildren. He was also the grandfather of the late Joshua Gill and predeceased by seven brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Kane Funeral Home, 605 Washington St. (Rte. 138), Easton, Thursday, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Easton, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday, from 4-8 p.m. Donations in Arthurs memory may be sent to the Alzheimers Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
