James Jackman Obituary

STOUGHTON James R. Jackman, 75, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Saturday, Nov. 29, at Hearthstone at Heights Crossing, in Brockton, under the care of Old Colony Hospice, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 50 years of the late Claire F. (ORourke) Jackman. Born in Boston, he was raised in the West End and a graduate of Cathedral High School in Boston. He also attended Suffolk University. Mr. Jackman was a resident of Stoughton for over 46 years. He was a sales engineer for Colmar Belting in South Boston, for 41 years, before retiring in 2004. Mr. Jackman was active at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. He was a past president and coach of Stoughton Little League and was involved in the building of the Elm Street complex. He was also past president of STOYAC and coached STOYAC basketball. He was a member and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus in the West End and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 200 in Stoughton. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed golfing, trips to Foxwoods and watching the Red Sox and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Jackman is survived by his children, Gregg B. Jackman, Michael P. Jackman and Sheila A. Campbell, all of Stoughton, James G. Jackman of Brockton, Gary M. Jackman of Newtown, Conn., Sean R. Jackman of England and Erin C. DAmadio of Bridgewater. He was the brother of Joseph Jackman of Abington, Francis Jackman and Marie Walsh, both of South Boston, and the late Thomas and Roger Jackman. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton, Friday, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton, at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday, 4-8 p.m. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jims name may be made to the West End House Boys & Girls Club, 105 Allston St., Allston, MA 02134, or at www.westendhouse.org. Sheila and family,

I'm so very sorry to hear the loss of your father. I remember memories of him attending almost every field hockey game back in the Stoughton high days and routing for every kid on the field. What a great guy who loved his sports and children. My sympathies are with all of you.
