It's Christmas time and I just can't quite get into the spirit knowing I don't have you to share it with. You are missed more and more with each passing day, Papa. I can't believe in 4 days you will have been gone a year. I love you.

The best hug!!

Dear Dad,
We are entering into the month of September now, the month that we always found ourselves remembering our Joe a little bit more than other months. We hope you are smiling upon all of us, together, as Father and Son.
The days fall into one another and when they say it gets easier with time, I think the word is different with time. You learn a different way to put one foot in front of the other and do the 'march' Dad. But then there are those days that you suddenly stop and realize 'I haven't thought about Dad today'. What a suprise that is. To all of a sudden realize the gears have shifted and without knowing it, it has gotten somewhat easier. Warmer memories fade in and push aside the ache. Gosh, you are missed though.. You are surely missed.

I will always be proud to be your daughter Dad, most honored in fact! And even though you knew it before I realized it, I AM growing up to be... just.. like... you...! ((SMILE))

With arms open wide, your Little Miss Muffett!

p.s. Thank you for being my everything and much.. much.. more! (but you already know that) I love you.

Its Monday, December 21 2008..the snow has been falling since noon yesterday and all I can do is think about how much you love this season. After I came in last night from doing some shoveling, Ethan asked me if I had made any snow Angels... I replied to him that I did not. He says..."but Mom... you have to ... for Papa"! So, I promised Ethan that we could make you some snow Angels tonight after work, if you would like to join us!!!! xoxoxox

I Love You Nana and Papa!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Manning,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USAF in Korea. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

I made you my number one priority Papa... From the moment we received your diagnosis, till the very end, I NEEDED to be beside you. And now you are gone, what do I do??
You were my grandfather but I feel that word isn't strong enough for the relationship I shared with you. You went above and beyond with all whose lives you touched and
I can proudly say that you helped shape me into the person I am today. I thank you Papa.

You went far too fast, but you are in a better place now and no longer struggling to breathe. Keep an eye on us all and know Nana will always be taken care of. It won't ever be the same without you... but you won't EVER be forgotten.

Mike and family, our very deepest sympathys on the loss of your dad. I could see from the family movie and all the pictures how much he loved you all and how much all of you loved him. Even though we all must return to our Creator someday, it is still difficult to say goodbye to the truly great ones as I know he was. I am sure that Manning humor and all of your memories will give you all peace. Our prayers are with you all. Sincerely Jim Jaehnig and family

Dearest Barbara, and Family.
I was very sorry to hear about Gerrys passing. I talked with Gabe this afternoon, and he is devastated with Gerrys loss, and that he can't come to say goodbye to Gerry, due to his stroke. But you know how much Gabe loved the both of you for over fifty years.
I will always remember him as a soft spoken, good hearted man that would render help to any, and all that asked. May God give you the strength to see you through your great loss. Gerry is at peace, and waiting for us to be with him when we are called home.
Our most sinsere condolences to you, and your Family.

I would like to thank all the people involved with caring for my Dad. The Doctors, Nurses And all the staff at the clinics and then the great people of Old Colony Hospice. Once these people met Dad and talked with him they seemed to go the extra mile. Dad had that effect on people. His friends and family that made contact with him helped him and us with what was coming. But no care was better than the absolute loving care he received from his personal nurseing staff made up of his wife Barbara, two daughters Kathie And Gerri and grandaughter Nicole from day one. The sacrifices they made to help dad made from love. It was something to behold and Dad knew it. The medications the treatments the soothing talks the utmost care for a never complaining patient. He was a lucky man to have them. We as a family are blessed to have them. Thank you for all you have done. It means so much, more than you will ever know. Love Mike

I did not know him well, but the first time I met him, I was met with a big smile and a warm hug. Having met some of his children and knowing his daughter Kathleen I can say this..if a man is to be measured by the children he has left behind and the lives he has touched…..then he was truly a great man. I have rarely seen such love and such easy joy,
He will be so missed and I am glad to have met him.

A GIANT among MEN. A TEDDY BEAR whose HUGS kept you WARM and gave you a FUZZY FEELING and you knew they were encircling you with LOVE. ALWAYS GENTLE. LOVING and KIND. SOMEONE who would LISTEN INTENTLY to what you had to say offering WORDS OF ADVICE and ENECOURAGEMENT. WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS the FEELINGS WE HAVE for a MAN who was ALWAYS THERE for HIS FAMILY and FRiENDS. GERRY is a MAN who REFELECTED LOVE BY JUST BEING IN HIS PRESENCE. WE are THANKFUL THAT WE ARE ABLE TO HAVE SHARED HIM IN OUR LIVES.
WE LOVE YOU GERRY. Carole & Ed
