Marjorie Dowd Obituary

HARWICH Marjorie Betty (Kent) Dowd, 81, of Harwich, formerly of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton, Dec. 7. Born in Acton, Betty graduated from Bridgewater High School, Class of 1945. She married her childhood friend, Bill, whom she was married to for over 39 years. Betty enjoyed gardening, painting and playing the piano. She was a die hard Red Sox fan and a former member of the Cape Chordaires. Betty was the loving wife of the late William C. Dowd; loving and devoted mother of Ann C. Dowd of Harwich, John W. Dowd of Bridgewater, William C. Dowd Jr. of Lake Dillon, Colo., Patrick M. Dowd of Brewster and the late Lance Corporal Lawrence K. Dowd; proud grandmother of Lauren K.D. Foster of East Bridgewater, John W. Dowd Jr. of Las Vegas, Daniel J. Dowd of East Taunton, James A. Perry of Shrewsbury, Elizabeth A. Perry of New York City, Lawrence D. Perry of Los Angeles and Julia A. Dowd of Harwich; great-grandmother of John William Dowd III and Addison Dowd of Las Vegas and soon-to-be Abigail Katherine Foster of East Bridgewater. Late sister of Dorothy Barney. Funeral from the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater, Friday, Dec. 12, at 8 a.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater, at 9 a.m. Interment in St. Thom-as Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Betty requested that you send a Christmas care package to any soldier serving his or her country overseas, please call your local veteran's agent for help. Bettys family would like to thank the nursing staff and physicians at Braemoor Nursing Home and Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center for their support and for making the final days of their mother as comfortable as possible.
