Ida Malinsky Obituary

BRIDGEWATER Ida M. (Picchi) Malinsky, 90, passed away peacefully, at St. Joseph's Manor, Brockton, Dec. 12, after a period of failing health. She was the loving wife of the late Albert J. Malinsky. A daughter of the late John and Luisa Picchi, she was born and raised in Attleboro. She moved to Bridgewater when she married and there she rais-ed her family. Ida was a homemaker, and when her children began school, worked in the shoe and garment industry. When she retired, she became an active member of the Bridgewater Senior Center, where she spent many happy hours with the crafters, the aerobics class and socializing with her many friends. She also truly enjoyed her Sundays with her bingo buddies, playing bingo and laughing the afternoon away. When budget constraints caused limited hours at the Senior Center, she campaigned with other seniors to raise money and awareness to keep the center open. She was also a member of the Bridgewater Golden Agers. She is survived by her devoted children, John A. of Hyde Park, Deborah A. McEnaney and her husband William of West Bridgewater; her beloved grandchildren, Kristen L. Mathena of Brockton and John D. of Taunton; her sister, Anna King of Attleboro; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Teresa Freeman, Angie Scarpellini and Virginia Scarpellini; and by brothers, John, Peter, Armand, Louie and Roxie Picchi. Funeral from the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 8 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Center Street, Bridgewater, at 9 a.m. Interment in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery. Visitation Monday from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Ida requested a donation be made in her name to the Friends of the Bridgewater Senior Center, 10 Wally Krueger Way, Bridgewater, MA 02324, so that her many cherished friends may continue to gather and socialize.
