Maria Silva Obituary

Maria F. Silva BOSTON Maria Fatima Silva, 49, of Boston, died unexpectedly, Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, in Boston. Born May 21, 1959, in Brava, Cape Verde, she was a daughter of Julia Silva Cardoso and her second mother, Maria DaSilva. Maria came to Roxbury from Cape Verde at the age of eight. She was raised in Roxbury and worked at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the food services department. She enjoyed cooking and helping the elderly in her neighborhood. She was a communicant of St. Cecilias Church in Boston. She is survived by her children, Monique Desiree Silva and Joshua Paul Silva; her grandchild, Gabriella Desiree Silva; her sisters and brothers, Domingas Prior and her husband Keith, Francisco DaSilva and his wife Ruthie Czaja, Joao DaSilva, Elena Centeio and her husband Tony Smith, Tony Centeio, Paul DaSilva, Kathy DaSilva and Lucia Centeio; her loving aunt, Palinha Soares. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Wednesday, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Edward/St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
