John A. Root III

John A. Root III MANCHESTER, N.H. John Adam Root III, age 71, of Manchester, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Elliot Hospital, after a prolonged illness. Mr. Root was born Jan. 23, 1937, in New Britain, Conn., a son of the late John A. II and Lena Root. After he graduated from high school, he served three years in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Massachusetts, where he worked in the Quincy Shipyard, the Veteran's Affair Medical Center, in Brockton, Mass., and was a tree climber for many years. He often volunteered his time at the Salvation Army. His favorite hobby was taking long rides in his beloved Cadillacs. His passion in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Root was survived by his six children, Kim Orben and her husband Greg of Weare, Debora Root of Manchester, Michelle Leivellee and her husband Michael of Manchester, Kristen Root-Walters and her husband Dennis of Plymouth Mass., Nicole Root-Nepton and her husband Tommy of Canada and Michael Root of Concord; his former wife, Barbara Root; and 16 grandchildren.
