Mr. Ponder,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USN during the Cold War as a crewmember of the USS Okinawa(LPH 3)-especially during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow Servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Margie, Cheri, Charlie & family - I thought I would share a very sweet memory. A couple of winters ago, I stared out the window during this terrible snowstorm and thought I don't know how I can shovel this driveway. No sooner had I thought this when Charlie pulled in with his plow down. He was smiling, and all he said was don't worry darlin I'll take care of you. He will forever remain in my heart.

Margie,Cheri,Charlie and all your family.... My heart hurts for you..
Charlie was the most unique and loving family man I've ever met... his love for his wife was always as strong and sweet as their younger years! As Dad, there wasn't much he wouldn't do for his children and as "Papa" he was so proud and caring.... I just want to say that I am blessed to have known Charlie who always made me feel welcome in his home... Hugs, Barbara Johnson
