Rose Doherty Obituary

Dr. Rose T. Doherty BROCKTON Dr. Rose T. Doherty, 81, of Brockton, formerly of Randolph, died Aug. 20, 2009. A daughter of the late John F. and Mary (Hegarty) Doherty, she was born in Dorchester and raised in Roslindale and Dorchester. Rose earned a nursing degree from St. Margarets School of Nursing, both a bachelor and master's degree from Boston College, a master's degree from Fordham University and a Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Ottawa. She retired after 23 years as a psychologist at Royal Ottawa Hospital in Ottawa, Canada. A devout Catholic, she was a former communicant of St. Mary Church in Randolph. Rose was a member of both the American Psychologist Association and Canadian Psychologist Association. A Godmother to many children, she volunteered in Canada for Youville. Rose enjoyed reading and loved animals. She played the harmonica, accordion, banjo and guitar by ear. Rose was the beloved sister of Theresa Mason of Brockton and the late Patrick Doherty, John Doherty, Mary OBrien and Beatrice Amrhein; and a loving aunt of many nieces and nephews of several generations. All are welcome to calling hours Sunday 2-7 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, funeral from Waitt Funeral Home at Monday at 8 a.m., funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Edith Stein Parish and burial at New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
