Gomes Norton â€" Lillian G. (Baldwin) Gomes, 90, of Norton died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of John M. Gomes, to whom she was wed to on Dec. 26, 1942. Born in Brockton, on March 2, 1917, she was a daughter of the late George F. and Katherine (Judge) Baldwin. She was raised in Brockton, educated in Brockton schools and was a 1935 graduate of Brockton High School. Mrs. Gomes was a dedicated homemaker to her family, and prior to her marriage, was a telephone operator in Brockton. A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, she was also a former member of the Catholic Women’s Club at St. Mary’s Church. Lillian enjoyed reading, cooking, the Boston Red Sox and was a fan of Doug Flutie. She had made her home in Norton for the past 54 years. In addition to her husband of more than 64 years, she is survived by her devoted children, Katherine A. Rich and her husband David of Mashpee, Alfred D. Gomes and his wife Kristen of Norton, Norton Fire Chief Richard J. Gomes and his wife Theresa of Norton and the late John F. Gomes; her cherished grandchildren, David B. Rich III and his wife Anna of Pinehurst, N.C., Betsy R. Koch and her husband Christopher of Hyannis, Melissa A. Gomes of Falmouth, Andrew R. Gomes of Norton, Christopher D. Gomes and his fiance Elizabeth DeYesso of North Attleboro and Stacey M. Gomes of Norton; her great-grandchildren, William and Henry Rich, Christopher Koch Jr. and Mia and Ryan Gomes; also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late George Baldwin, John Baldwin, Arlene Baldwin and Alice Townsend. Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held Monday, Oct. 15, at 9 a.m. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (off Rte. 140, Taunton Avenue), Norton, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, South Worcester Street, Norton. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Easton. Visiting hours will be Sunday, Oct. 14, from 4-8 p.m. at Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
