Jonathan Cash Obituary

Jonathan Alan Cash Quincy Cash, Jonathan Alan "Jonny", formerly of Mansfield, a respected and talented Chef, died unexpectedly on October 8, 2007 at Quincy Medical Center. He was 36 years old, and the beloved husband of six years to Christina (Giardini) Cash. Born in Chelsea on March 24, 1971, and raised in Mansfield, he was the son of Thomas W. Cash of Lynn, and Susan (Unger) Rafferty of Mansfield. He attended Mansfield schools, and graduated Cranston (RI) High School in 1989. As a gifted vocalist, he sang a capella for several years both during his school years and afterward. He also attended Johnson & Wales University in Providence while working at area restaurants in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Jonny was employed as a chef with Not Your Average Joe’s restaurant in Burlington. He also was formerly employed by other fine eating establishments. He was known by many friends and family as a talented, warm hearted and giving man, who would do whatever he could to support those he cared most about, or a worthy charitable cause, including a most recent 5K walk he participated in which raised money for the Samaritans organization, and another where he raised money to support the Woodward School in Quincy, as well as other worthwhile causes. He was happiest spending his time with those he loved, and received great joy in entertaining those around him, and would often sing and play the guitar. In addition to his beloved wife, Christina, and his parents Thomas and Susan, Jonathan leaves his cherished son, Corey J. Cash, at home, and he was eagerly anticipating the birth of his daughter this December. Brother of Michelle Runge of Nashua, NH Elizabeth Rafferty of Warwick, RI Emily Rafferty of Mansfield, and Mary Catherine Unger-Rafferty also of Mansfield. Grandson of Vivian Unger, of Mansfield and uncle of Jaidyn Hurst, Danielle Rafferty and Ryan & Jeffery Runge. He was preceded in death by his maternal Grandfather John D. Unger, Jr., who died October 24, 2002. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his funeral Mass on Monday, Oct. 15th at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Rt. 106) Mansfield. Interment following at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield. Visiting hours Sunday from 5 â€" 9 P.M. at the Hamel, Wickens & Troupe Funeral Home, 26 Adams St. QUINCY CENTER. Jonny was wonderfully kind and attentive to my mother when she visited Not Your Average Joe's in Lexington. She adored him. She had hoped to visit him this week by eating at Not Your Average Joe's at the Burlington Mall. We send our sincere sympathy to the family at this very sad time.

Dear Sue & family,
My thoughts are with you. Sue, I remember you sharing moments of Jonathan growing up when we worked together at Summer Street School & Barnum School. We were all part of a "big family" and I will be thinking of you during this difficult time. I wish I could help relieve the sorrow & pain that you and your family are going through. I still miss you!
Love, Ann
