Charles Desalliers Obituary

Charles J. Desalliers Taunton Charles J. Desalliers, of Taunton died Tuesday, Oct. 16, at his residence following a month long illness. He was the husband of Shirley M. (Overlock) Desalliers. He was born 77 years ago in Central Falls, R.I., a son of the late Wilfred and Rose A. (Nolin) Desalliers. He was educated in Taunton and had been a city resident for most of his life. He was a partner with his son, Pete, in the operation of C & S Excavating of Taunton. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as supervisor for the town of Easton Landfill, and had previously been employed as a foreman for the town of Easton Highway Department for 13 years. He had formerly been employed as a master mechanic for Campanella and Cardi Corp. and for the Boston Sand and Gravel Corp. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 653 and was a recipient of the Cooperation and Friendship Award from the town of Easton Water Works. Mr. Desalliers enjoyed taking walks and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church (formerly St. Jacques Church). In addition to his wife, he leaves, two sons, John Desalliers of Yardley, Pa., Peter Desalliers of Raynham; two daughters, Karen Rico of East Taunton, Melanie DaRosa of Taunton; three sisters, Rose Gordon of Taunton, Louise Powell of Taunton, Claire Perry of Taunton; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St., on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 8 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church, 249 Whittenton St., at 9 a.m. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
