I recently ran across the essay on NPR's website from October 2005 by Nancy. It touched my life because I have friends who are ill with cancer and some that were taken not too long ago from the same. In it she mentions a prognosis of a year or so of her own illness. When I finished reading I felt compelled to check for more information on her life because her words had so much hope and love of living in them I was sure it wasn't so. I was happy to see she had many more days with her family and friends than a year could bring and hopefully a few more adventures. My deepest sympathy . I am sure she was an amazing woman

Nancy was a beloved friend and teacher to so many of us at Downey school where she worked. She was a mentor to me. She was always willing to explain something, if I had a question. I really enjoyed knowing Nancy. I am sorry for your loss.
