Ellen Barrasso Obituary

Ellen J. Barrasso Wilmington, Del. Ellen Jane Barrasso, died peacefully Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at the age of 82. She was born Ellen Jane Hughes, Dec. 20, 1925, to Mr. and Mrs. William Hughes of Braintree, Mass. Jane and Dario married in September of 1952 and eventually moved to Brockton, Mass., to start a family. The greatest surprise and joy of her life was the birth of her son John Barrasso in 1963. She worked for Armstrong World Industries for more than 40 years, before retiring in 1987 to care for her ailing husband. She maintained a large circle of friends and family that she loved to spend time with. She had a passion for sports, and a love of Rolo candies and jelly Munchkins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darius Barrasso; nephew, Darren Barrasso; and her dog, Scottie. She is survived by her son, John Barrasso and his wife Jennifer of Newark. Her three grandchildren, Dylan, Wyatt and Abigail Jane, her namesake. Their mere presence could bring a smile to her face. Her niece, Sandra Tenenbaum of Brockton; sister-in-law, Gloria Kimbriel of Paris, Alaska; cousins, Joey and Rose Nardozzi of Taunton, Mass.; sister-in-law and niece, Jean Barrasso and Dareece Rudd of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and her best friend throughout most of her life, Lydia Gentalucci of Quincy, Mass. The family would especially like to thank the wonderful staff at Parkview Nursing Home, who loved and cared for Jane throughout her stay. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2505 Centerville Road, Wilmington, at 10 a.m. There will be a visitation at 9:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. www.mealeyfuneralhomes.com.
