Carol Coburn Obituary

Carol J. Coburn Fort Myers, Fla. Carol J. (Chambers) Coburn, of Fort Myers, formerly of Randolph, Mass., died Oct. 26 at S.W. Florida Regional Medical Center after a period of failing health. She was 79. Wife of the late Richard E. Coburn. She was born in Boston and grew up and attended school in Weymouth, graduating from Weymouth High School and Mount Ida College. She had been a resident of Randolph for 49 years before moving to Fort Myers in 2001. She was a PTA member, a Trinity Church Alter Guild member, a town meeting member (beat out her husband for the seat on a write-in ballot), a member of Junior Ladies Library Assoc., she was the first Randolph police matron, a volunteer at Long Island Shelter for Homeless, she founded and volunteered at Randolph Youth Center, a member of the Randolph Housing Authority, a member of the Quilters Guild in Massachusetts and Florida, she volunteered at Lee Memorial Hospital, she was a former Cub Scout leader and a ceramics instructor for many years. Those who knew her enjoyed her wonderful sense of humor, caring nature and love for life. Mother of David Coburn of Buzzards Bay, Mass., Robert "Bud" Coburn of Hanson, Mass., Wendi Smith of Barnstable, Mass., Gail Dailey of East Bridgewater, Mass., Sherri Coburn of Fort Myers, Donald Hill of Kingston, Mass., and the late Richard Coburn. Also survived by seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Trinity Episcopal Church, Randolph, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. in the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 South Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph. Interment Central Cemetery, Randolph.
