Duncan Edes Obituary

Duncan W. Edes Jr. Harwich Duncan Dunc W. Edes Jr., 82 years, died unexpectedly Nov. 1, 2007, at his home in Harwich. He was the husband of the late Ethel M. Edes. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, he was a son of the late Duncan W. and Alta Edes. He was a veteran of World War II, who served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific. For more than 20 years, he was employed by Donnelly Electric & Neon in Boston and retired from IBEW Local 103, Boston. He was a longtime summer resident of Dennisport and winter resident of Harwich. He enjoyed living on Cape Cod and his cat Pepper. He is survived by two sons, James Dolan and his wife Joan of Bridgewater and Thomas Dolan and his wife Linda of Melrose; three grandchildren, Kathleen Moreau of Bridgewater and Timothy and Andrew Dolan of Melrose; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Spates of Taunton. Funeral service in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 11:15 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 3-7 p.m. Donations in his name may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston/Cape Cod Branch, 3981 Main St., East Brewster, MA 02631. Mr. Edes,
Sir, I didn't know you but as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USMC during WW II. It was the history and accomplishments made by you and your fellow Marines during WW II that all of us Marines who followed in your footsteps have always tried to live up to. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
