Joanne Walters Obituary

Joanne L. Walters Whitman Joanne L. Joey (Lecours) (Lang) Walters, 56, a resident of Whitman, died Thursday, Nov. 22, at her sisters home in Plymouth, after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of Donald F. Walters of Whitman and the daughter of the late John and Mildred (DeMinico) Lecours. Born in Medford, she attended Weymouth schools. Joey was employed by the Barrett Family restaurants, for 23 years, as a waitress, and when she retired in 1997, they named a booth after her at the Abington Ale House in Abington. She enjoyed her grandchildren, boating and Nantasket Beach. She is survived by her husband, Donald F. Walters of Whitman; her sons, Keith Robert Lang of Weymouth, John Scott Lang and his wife Colleen of Whitman; her sister, Sandra Kiely and her husband Jack of Plymouth; also her grandchildren, Alex McLoud and Rebecca and Megan Lang; also many other grandchildren and cousins. She was the sister of the late Barbara Rooney. Her funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 10 a.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Inc., Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle), Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Monday, Nov. 26, 4-8 p.m. Donations may be made in her to the National Down Syndrome Society, 666 Broadway, New York, NY 10012.
