James Mahoney Obituary

James Mahoney Jr. Lakeville James F. Jim Mahoney Jr., age 82 years, of Lakeville, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at his home. He was the husband of Patricia (Baynes) Ma-honey of Lake-ville and the late Margaret C. (DeRoma) Mahoney for 51 years. Born Friday, Jan. 23, 1925, in Boston, he was a son of the late James and Dorothy Mahoney. Jim was a graduate of Roslindale High School, where he played football and was known as the Iron Man. He had lived in West Roxbury moving to Lakeville in 1975. Mr. Mahoney was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a Boston fireman for 10 years. He also worked as a builder for many years, building homes in the greater Boston area. He was a member of the Lakeville Lions Club, an active member of Sts. Martha and Mary Church and enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by seven children, Mary Ann Carrol of Virginia, James F. Mahoney III of Dorchester, Paula Keefe of New Hampshire, Stephen Mahoney of Virginia, Mark E. Mahoney of Taunton, Robert Mahoney of Lakeville and David Mahoney of Falmouth; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Goodrich of Falmouth. He was also the father of the late Daniel Mahoney and the brother of the late Jerry Bernazzani. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in Sts. Martha and Mary Church, 354 Bedford St., Lakeville. Interment will follow in Sampson Cemetery in Lakeville. Visitation will take place on Thursday 4 to 9 p.m. in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford St., Lakeville. Mr. Mahoney,
Sir, I didn't know you but I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice-first for our Country when you served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, and secondly for the citizens of Boston when you served in the BFD. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to exend my deepest sympathy.
