Kenneth Davenport Obituary

Kenneth Davenport Jr. Bridgewater Kenneth Russell Davenport Jr., age 70 years, a 23 year resident of West Bridgewater, died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home. Born in Bos-ton, a son of the late Kenneth and Katherine (Coffin), he was raised in Rockland. A U.S. Navy veteran, he proudly served his country aboard the USS Essex from 1957-1961 and was honorably discharged. His love of the open road led to his lifelong career as a truck driver. In the 1980s, he traveled coast to coast as an independent owner/operator. He worked also for Parker Transportation in Avon, and for the past 14 years, Radford Transportation. Kenny lived well, laughed often and loved much. He touched everyone's life with his wonderful sense of humor. He loved to take pictures of the roadside scenery or chill by the pool. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, proud patriarch, loyal friend and avid story teller. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Beverly A. (Black); cherished father of Wayne and his wife Marietjie, Bob and his wife Delia, Mark, Laureen and her husband Zack Rice and Shawn and his wife Drey; adoring Gramps to Madeline Rachel Rice. Visiting hours will be held on Monday in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral and burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 57, Taunton, MA 02780. Please visit www.prophett-wales.com for directions and condolences.

I WONDERED HOW GOD COULD BE SO CRUEL AS TO TAKE YOU AWAY FROM US....BUT I WAS WRONG...GOD IS TRULY KIND...ALTHOUGH I WISH HE HAD GIVEN YOU MORE TIME....HE SPARED YOU ANY SUFFERING AND ANY PAIN...AND MADE SURE YOU WILL FOREVER "WALK IN SUNSHINE, NEVER IN RAIN"...NEXT TIME THAT I PRAY, I WILL MAKE SURE I THANK HIM FOR EVERY DAY...AS YOU TRAVELED UP THE "GOLDEN LANE TO MEET THE MAN WITH THE THIN HAIR"... I KNOW HE MET YOU THERE AND ONCE AGAIN HE TOOK YOUR HAND..AND LED YOU TO THE PROMSIED LAND...DAD, YOU ARE THE GREATEST,I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM YOU,YOU HAD THE BEST SENSE OF HUMOR...HONOR...LOYALTY..PATIENCE.. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN..I AM SURE YOU WILL KEEP THE LAUGHING UP IN HEAVEN. I LOVE YOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER-YOUR BABY GIRL, LAU

The winds whisper to me
The stories of you life
In them I can see
Your hardships, you strife
Although you had a few
You never let them bother you
You had fun each day
Always a kind word to say
A laugh to give
Each day you lived
You always stayed true.

So you Truck Driver from Russia, Whimpy Weasel from Wisconsin, Lavender Larry, Or Just Boeweazel, or whatever character or story you may be telling right now in heaven, Keep on Trucking NO.777

Ps. Don't make God laugh to hard,
He has bad breath!!!!!!!!
