James Meagher Obituary

James J. Meagher Kennebunk, Maine James Joseph Meagher, 72 years, of Pine Bluff, Kennebunk, formerly of Brockton, Mass., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. James was born in Brockton on June 10, 1935, a son of Fredrick and Edna Benoit Meagher. He attended George S. Paine Junior High and Brockton High Vocational School. He worked for Plymouth Rubber Co. in Canton, Mass., as a machine operator and foreman for 17 years, McDonalds in Stoughton, Mass., as an assistant manager for two years, Kentucky Fried Chicken in Stoughton as an assistant manager for five years and Parshley Realty in Stoughton as sales manager for 17 years. James was also a volunteer driver for York County Community Action Volunteer Driver Programs since November of 2000. He was an auxiliary fire fighter for the town of Stoughton for 11 years and an assistant coach for the Stoughton Minor League for four years. In addition, James was affiliated with the Stoughton Lions Club; Stoughton Chamber of Commerce; South Shore Chamber of Commerce; associate member of the Brockton Board of Realtors, Massachusetts Board of Realtors and the National Board of Realtors. James enjoyed bowling and bowled in many bowling leagues over the years. Surviving James are his wife, Pearl Welch Meagher; son, Richard James Meagher of Stoughton; daughters, Cynthia Fitzgerald of East Bridgewater, Mass., and Karen Lee Meagher of Stoughton; stepdaughters, Sharon Hardy of Biddeford, Elise Hawkins of Biddeford, Lorna Caron of Ruidoso, N.M.; stepsons, M. Freeman Caron of Hollis and Stuart Caron of Biddeford; sisters, Edna Walsh of South Easton, Mass., Theresa Duquette of Brockton, Helen Anderson of Brockton, Barbara Tamulevich of Brockton, Mary Kespert of Biddeford and Dorothy Burgess of South Yarmouth, Mass.; brothers, Robert Meagher of Taunton, Mass., Wilfred Meagher of Bay Town, Texas, and Walter Meagher of Kansas City Mo.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. James was predeceased by his brother, Fredrick J. Meagher Jr. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 6, from 2-3 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in the spring in Hope Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial donations in James' name may be made to Kidney Foundation of Maine, P.O. Box 1134, Portland, ME 04104, or Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maine Chapter, 77 Preble St., Portland, ME 04104. Arrangements are by Bibber Memorial Chapel, www.bibberfuneral.com.

jimmy was my friend when we were young and foolish but he never raised his voice in anger and always had a ready smile.once i married i never saw many of my older friends and jimmy is one i will miss as i thought of him often.great friend
