Ida Richardson Obituary

Ida B. Richardson Brockton Ida Beatrice (Cothran) Richardson, 80, died unexpectedly at her home in Brockton, Wednesday, Nov. 28. She was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Jesse and Eliza (Collier) Cothran, and educated in Philadelphia schools. She also att-ended Northeastern University and Massasoit Community College. Mrs. Richardson lived for many years in Brockton and worked for the Social Security Administration. She was an active member of Messiah Baptist Church in Brockton, serving on many of their committees and was a member of the gospel chorus, the Singles Club in Brockton and the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Richardson is survived by her beloved son and his wife, Kenneth and LaTanya Richardson of Corrales, N.M.; three sisters, Ruby Washington, Alice Blair and Jessica Draughn, all of Philadelphia; an aunt, Otelia Collier of Boston; several cousins, including, the Rev. Luvenia McLean of Boston; and many nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Lellia Cromer. Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Messiah Baptist Church, 80 Legion Parkway, Brockton, with visitation from 9 a.m. on, prior to the service. The Rev. Cheryl Harris will officiate. A committal service will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. For further information, www.sampson-hall.com.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I worked with "Miss Ida" many years ago in the Roxbury Social Security Office. She was so warm and caring to her peers and to the public we served!
