John April Obituary

Duxbury John G. April of Duxbury, Worcester, and most recently Cape Cod, died on April 21, 2008. He was 67 years old. Mr. April was a lifelong victim of Cerebral Palsy, and had also suffered a separate spinal cord injury in an accident that left him paralyzed. Despite his condition he always maintained a positive outlook on life, and influenced everyone who came in contact with him. Mr. April is a graduate of Duxbury High School. He enjoyed spending his summers at Camp Jabber-Wocky on Marthas Vineyard, where he was able to spend time with others with Cerebral Palsy. Mr. April loved to spend time on the computer, and loved to play games, especially chess. He lived independently in Worcester for 28 years, before recently moving to Cape Regency Healthcare in Centerville. He is the son of the late Paul J. and Cora M. April. Beloved brother of Edward April and his wife Kate of Mystic, CT, Paul April and his wife Mary Lou of N. Falmouth, Lorraine Whitehouse and her husband Bill of Duxbury, Helen April of New London, CT, Carol Bourque and her husband Edmund of E. Lyme, CT, his twin sister Janet Cahoon and her husband Steve of Albion, ME, and Susan Wieditz of Guymon, OK. Nephew of Alice Hall of Buzzards Bay, and Lucille Ross of Fall River. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 25th from 6-9:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont St, Duxbury at 10:00 AM on Saturday April 26th. Burial will be at the Mayflower Cemetery. My deepest sympathy on the loss of a very special man. John was kind, funny, thoughtful and insightfull. I only knew him for a short period of time, but days spent with him were richer and more enjoyable. I pray that his soul is at peace. I will always remember this gentle, kind man.
