James Joseph Foley

Weymouth James Joseph Foley, age 84, of Weymouth, May 22, 2008 at South Shore Hospital after a brief illness. Beloved husband for 57 years of Bernadette A. (Nixon) Foley. A resident of Dorchester before moving to Weymouth 33 years ago. He served in the U.S.Navy during W.W.II aboard the LSM 272. A retired Boston Police Officer (District 6) of 32 years, he later worked at Armstrong Cork in Braintree. Late member of the Retired BPD Officers Assoc., V.F.W., American Legion, USS LSM Assoc. and also enjoyed attending monthly meetings of the Originally From Dorchester (OFD) Men's Club. An avid local high school and Boston College football fan, he was a devoted family man. Beloved father of James J. Foley Jr. and his wife Karen of East Bridgewater, Eleanor Devine and her husband Robert of Weymouth, William Foley and his wife Judy of Rockland and June Foley of Hingham. Loving Grandfather of Kerry White, James J. III, Shannon, Erin and Michael James Foley, William and Robert Devine. Son of the late William P. and Annie Foley. Brother of the late William P. Foley Jr., Helen Roake, Alice Bartlett and Anna McIntyre. Brother-in-law of Sr. Mary Laurellen SSND of Wilton, CT. Funeral from the North Weymouth McDonald Funeral Home 40 Sea St. (off Rt.3A-Bicknell Sq.) Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church at 11:30.
