Gerald Keane Obituary

BRIDGEWATER Mr. Gerald F. "Gerry" Keane, 95 of Bridgewater, formerly of Rockland, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Bay Pointe Nursing Home in Brockton. The son of the late John J. and Catherine V. (Murphy) Keane, he was born in Rockland on April 24, 1913. He was raised and educated in Rockland and moved to Bridgewater 13 years ago. Mr. Keane served in the Army and was later employed as an Inside Clerk for the US Postal Service, the Spinning Wheel in Whitman and the former Angelo's Supermarket. He retired when he was 59 years old. He was a Eucharistic Minister, an Usher, a member of the St. Vincent dePaul and started the Food Pantry at Holy Family Church in Rockland. He was also a member of the Rockland Knights of Columbus and a volunteer for the Red Cross. Husband of the late Helen E. (Morrissey) Keane, he is survived by 2 sons, Jay R. Keane of Independence KY and Christopher E. Keane of Bridgewater, 1 sister M.Ellen Buckley of Westbrook ME, 1 brother, Donald Keane of Idaho, 3 sisters, Ruth Keane and Mary Hembree both of Weymouth and Eleanor Burns of Marshfield. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass on Monday at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street in Rockland. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 45 East Water Street in ROCKLAND on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society, 403 Union St., Rockland MA 02370.
