Clifford Torrey Obituary

NORWELL Mr. Clifford F. Sonny Torrey, 73 of Norwell died on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at home surrounded by family and friend after a long illness. The son of the late Hazel (Condrick) Torrey, he was born in Weymouth on June 21, 1934. He was raised and educated in Weymouth and has live in Norwell since 1955. Mr. Torrey served in the Marines during the Korean War and was later employed as a Supervisor at Raytheon, he retired in 1992. Mr. Torrey was a member of the American Legion Post #40 in Plymouth, owner of Wood Crafts by Cliff loved animals especially dogs and enjoyed softball, hockey, baseball, bowling and golf. He is survived by his wife Ellen M. (Foster) Torrey, 2 daughters, Donna L. Torrey of North Attleboro and Diane M. Lamore of Rockland, 1 sister, Corrine Masson of Norwell and 1 grand daughter, Diana Lamore. He was the brother of the late Robert L. Torrey and Marjorie M. Barthel. Funeral Service in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53 in HANOVER on Friday at 10 a.m. Private family interment at the Mass National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Beacon Hospice, 8 Samoset St Plymouth MA 02360. i remember going over to the house to see all the birds Uncle Sonny would carve. I always looked forward to going there and going to Corrine and Jack's for cookouts and seeing the big black dog who would carry big rocks in his mouth and going down to Jacobs pond.
