To Marie and the Egan children I am so sorry for you loss and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. It was always a pleasure to visit with Walter and Marie on their visits to Vermont and I have missed them since I moved away. Walter always had a kind word to offer and I am a better person for having known him.

Dear Mrs. Egan, Joe, Pati, Michael, Leo, Sean, Tim, Maureen, and Family,
Phil and I are so sorry that you have lost your loving husband, Mrs. Egan; your dear father, Joe, Leo, Sean,Tim, and Maureen; your wonderful grandfather, Michael; and your father-in-law, Pati. We are deeply saddened. But surely Walter is in heaven and is not suffering anymore! I am confident that he has already been chatting with my mom! They both now are watching over all of us. For that - we must be happy.
Yesterday, the day of Walter's passing, I was sitting having my coffee thinking about him. I was praying for him - and for all the Egan family. I had this very strong sense or feeling about Mr. Egan - like he was nearby. I was thinking about how happy I was that he received our flowers, and that he knew WE had sent them - that he knew we were thinking about him. That meant a lot to us. Yesterday was his day.
I will always remember Walter Egan as a very kind, gracious, intelligent, talented, and lively man. When I think about Mr. Egan, I think about his love of life and his joyful spirit. I remember him playing the accordian - loving it and bringing joy to others. I remember how my mom loved to listen to his playing and to sing along. I remember Walter's love of languages. He always was interesting to speak with. I always learned something - usually several things - after chatting with Mr. Egan. Phil feels the same way, and he wants you to know that he will always remember with great fondness his many lengthy conversations with Mr. Egan. I admired how Walter did volunteer work, and kept his mind and body active as long as he possibly could. I remember the times I was a guest at your family functions at your Liberty Street home. Your father was always a most congenial host and made me feel welcome and part of the family. You were all very fortunate to have such a great man in your lives. His positive attributes live on in all of you in different ways; I can clearly see that. This is the Walter Egan that we remember - and always will.
We are very sorry that we will not be able to attend Walter's funeral, as we do not return from Saudi until June 30. However, please know that Phil and I are with you in spirit during this most difficult time. We will visit your father's grave and pay our respects when we return home this summer. If there is anything we can do for you to make this time easier, please don't hesitate to ask us.
With Love and Deepest Condolences,
Kathy and Phil
