Ruth Barry Obituary

Hingham Ruth A. (McDermott) Barry, a native of Ireland and a resident of Linden Ponds, died on Tuesday, June 24 at the Harbor House Nursing Home in Hingham. She was 85 years of age. Born, raised and educated in Ireland, she came to the United States in the 1950's and had lived in Braintree for 30 years and Hingham for the past 3 years. Mrs. Barry attended nursing school in England and Northeastern University in Boston. She worked as a private duty geriatric nurse in this area for many years. Mrs. Barry was a former communicant and active in St. Clare's Church for many years. Beloved wife of the late Patrick J. Barry, she is survived by her devoted son Kevin P. Barry, married to Michelle of Hanover. Proud grandmother of Patrick and Ailish Barry of Hanover. Loving sister of James McDermott of Randolph, Kevin of Ireland, John of Quincy, Gertrude Gill of Chicago, Theresa Quinn of Ireland, the late Pearl Moss, the late Molly McLean and the late Bridget "Joan" McDermott. Funeral from the McDonald Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main St. (Rte. 18 opposite South Shore Hospital), Saturday at 10 a.m. Funeral Mass to follow in St. Clare's Church, Braintree at 11 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Boston. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday evening, 4-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Norwell VNA, 91 Longwater Circle, Norwell, MA 02061.
