Robert Collins Obituary

Weymouth Robert J. Collins, a retired machinist for Gillette Safety Razor, died on Wednesday at the Queen Ann Nursing Home in Hingham. He was 82 years of age. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Dorchester and had lived in Weymouth since 1954. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Mr. Collins had worked 41 years for Gillette. He was a member of the VFW Post 1399 in Weymouth, the Weymouth Eagles and the Moose Club in Quincy. He enjoyed golfing at the Rockland Golf Club and he worked out every day at the Quincy YMCA for many years. Beloved husband of 60 years to Catherine M. (Graham) Collins. Devoted father of Catherine Collins and Roberta J. Collins, both of N.Weymouth, and Janet Modano, married to Tony, of Hingham. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. 1 of 12 children to the late Cornelius and Lucy Collins. Funeral Services in the NORTH WEYMOUTH McDonald Funeral Home at 40 Sea St., (off Rte. 3A at Bicknell Sq.), Saturday at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
