Alexander Poulos Obituary

Marion Alexander Poulos, of Marion, formerly of Milton, 82, died June 26, 2008 at home after a brief illness. He was the husband Patricia (MacDonald) Poulos. Born in Boston, he lived in Milton for many years before retiring to Marion. Mr. Poulos served aboard the U.S.S. Massachusetts in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was formerly employed in the service department of Boston Gas Company for many years until retirement. Mr. Poulos enjoyed sailing, history and poetry. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Survivors include 3 daughters, Dianne Allen and her husband Douglas of San Diego, CA, Cynthia Lanigan and her husband Kevin of Pembroke and Deborah Calaris of Houston, TX; and grandchildren, Kristen, Amy, Stephen, Tom, Nina, Joe and Alex. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 p.m. in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett. His Funeral Service and burial will be private. Mr. Poulos,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USN during WW II aboard the battleship USS Massachusetts(BB 59)-"Big Mamie" which saw action in the from November of 1942 through to VJ Day in 1945 and never lost a man in combat. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
