Christopher Sophis Obituary

Quincy Christopher J. Sophis, 35, of Quincy died June 24, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. Beloved son of Mary (Fraser) Sophis of Quincy and Michael Sophis. Cherished grandson of Agnes M. Fraser of Quincy and the late John M. Fraser and the late Charles and Helen Sophis of Quincy and Hull. Loving nephew of Sr. Eunice Fitzgerald CSJ of Brockton and the late Ann McDonald of N. Weymouth and the late Rev. William Fitzgerald, SJ of Holy Cross, Worcester. Also survived by his cousins Tina Robertson of Quincy and Sharon Bowers of FL. Lovingly survived by many other family and friends. Chris was born in Boston and raised in Quincy and was a volunteer for many years at the Quincy Crisis Center. He was a loving and giving young man who will be missed by all. His funeral will be from the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St.(off Hancock St.) Quincy Center on Monday, June 30 at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Jeromes Church, N. Weymouth at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations in Chriss memory may be made to the Hospice of Brockton, 500 Belmont St. Brockton, MA 02301. Mary,
My deepest sympathy for the loss of your wonderful son. Chris brought so much joy into the lives of everyone he met with his great sense of humor. He was always offering to help friends, family and even strangers. May all the happy memories you had together bring you comfort. He will be in my heart forever!! Rest peacefully Chris, I will miss seeing your smile every day.

Mary and family, I have known Chris for quite a few years as I lived next door to him a few years ago. He was a kind and gentle man and helped everyone. I am sorry for your loss and sorry for what Chris had to go through at his young age. He is not suffering anymore.
