It’s January, the middle of the ski season and I begin to realize that I will never ride a chairlift or ski a cruiser with my friend Dick. I will never experience the burn in my quadriceps trying to keep up with him either. I will cherish the memories of skiing the slopes of New Hampshire with Dick, Matt and my three sons, the calls on the radios to find our boys, the pictures emailed to me to remind me of happier days on the slopes, and your optimistic signature “Think Snow” at the end of every email. Rest in peace Skiman. I’m sure God has provided you with some of the best cruising trails to ski.

I'm so sorry to hear about Dickie's passing. I worked with for several years at the Barnes Building and I have nothing but great memories. He will be sorely missed. I wish you all the best in your healing. I wanted to let you know that Dickie, along with his family are in my thoughts and prayers.

To the Bertrand family - I'm very sorry for your loss. I'll remember Mr. Bertrand for taking his night time walk around the neighborhood, and at one point of his walk, walking down the street of McAndrew Rd., where I lived, hearing "hi how are ya" or "hows it going", and just being happy that there really are some friendly neighbors left in this day and age. I also had my first kiss (not with Erin, but Erins friend back when I was in 7th grade) in the Bertrands tree house in their front/side yard. My condolences, and prayers go out to the Bertrands in this time of pain and grievance. God Bless You All.

To Liz and family,
You are in our hearts and in our thoughts. We will miss Dickies smiling face and wonderful sense of humor. The fun pool parties where your neighbors, his skiing friends, and his corvette friends and his "Toons and Tays" friends all had a great time together, because of him. We are priviledged to have known him. We hope that somewhere there is lots of snow and an early winter for " The Skiman".

Liz, Matt, Michelle, & Erin,
Dick was not just our neighbor, he was a dear friend. We spent many good times with Dick either at your home or ours, family parties & summer time get togethers. Always smiling with good conversation, and his most gracious hospitality. Always willing to help, even snowblowing our driveway when we would have large snowstorms with mounds of snow. We miss him and will always think warm thoughts, picturing him working around the yard and coming over to chat for awhile. Life on St Lawrence St, will certainly be different without Dick. Our hearts and prayers are with you always & 4-ever.

Love, Jack, Diane, & Bobby

Dick Bertrand has been a member of Old Colony Ski Club since 1986. While Dick no longer came to the club very often, he always kept in contact with his friends by sending funny emails and letting everyone know about his latest ski jaunts and Corvette events. I could always count on him to send me an email telling me where it had recently snowed even when it was the middle of the summer - he loved skiing that much. He was one of the nicest, most positive people I've ever met and he will be greatly missed. Our sympathies go out to his wife, Liz, also an Old Colony member, and their family.

Their is so much to say about such a caring, loving and overall great man that I dont know where to begin. I had the pleasure of meeting "Dicky B" in my childhood due to my friendship with his son Matt. Over the years I knew him he would always go the extra mile to make sure everybody was having fun especially while we were skiing. I am going to truely miss the random MAAAAAAAATTT's dropped over the walkie talkie and randomly spotting him cruising in his corvette. To put it simply, anyone who met this man is truely lucky because such warm heated individuals are hard to come by in todays world.

Ill miss you Dicky B.

My thoughts, prayers and condolences go to Rich's family. My friendship with Rich began when he purchased his Corvette, Ruby Elaine. Rich was a kind, caring, wonderful man. When I was ill a few years back, Rich would bring me healthy, hot turkey rueben sandwiches and pasta sauce (with the recipe attached). I will miss him very much. His passing is a great loss to all of his friends in the South Shore Corvette Club. We will miss his up-beat personality and smile.
Think snow, Skiman!!!!

Richard 'Dick' was my college friend and roomate. We lived and laughed together for nearly 5 years while attending Northeastern University. We drank and partied and shared dates while living at BGE fraternity on Commonwealth Ave in Back Bay. After graduating college, we travelled cross country in Richard's 1970 VW Beetle that he loved to drive. Richard settled down and raised a family in Braintree while I settled in New York. Over the years, Richard and I kept in contact and visited each other. I am so saddened never to be able to visit or listen to Dick tell a funny story. Richard was a real friend and I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers go to Barbara, Liz, Erin, Elizabeth, and Matt. I share your grief in this terrible loss.

Dick was a wonderful, kind man. He was extremely helpful to me when I worked with him at the Barnes Building, and it is because of his recommendation that my daughter enjoyed four wonderful years at Blue Hills Regional Vocational Technical School. I will keep the entire Bertrand family in my thoughts and in my prayers. Rest in Peace Dick. You will be missed.
