Beatrice Brown Obituary

Weymouth Beatrice S. (Haas) Brown, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on July 12. She was born in Boston but lived in Weymouth for 80 years. A graduate of Weymouth High School in 1941, she worked many years as a waitress at Kae's Snack Bar in Jackson Square in Weymouth, The Neighborhood Club of Quincy, and Grant's Bradford House Restaurant in Weymouth. Mrs. Brown retired in 1986 as a final tester of smoke alarms at Electro Signal Labs in Rockland. Beatrice competed for the past 10 years in the Weymouth Senior Bowling League with her brother, George. She was a member of The South Shore Mother of Twins Club while caring for her nephews, Michael and Paul Koffink. Beatrice was the beloved wife of Douglas F. Brown, Sr. for 53 years until his death in 1994. She is survived by Douglas F. Brown, Jr. and his wife Marjorie of Hudson, FL, Linda A. Ford and her husband Jerome of Weymouth and James K. Brown and his wife of Joan of Quincy. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Douglas P. Brown, Melissa Brown and Meredith Brown of Florida, Deborah Leopardi of Mansfield, Jerome Ford, Jr. of Whitman, and Michelle Ford of Rowley and 8 great-grandchildren, Patrick, Joshua, Bradley, Steffanie and Nicole Brown of Florida, David and Michael Leopardi of Mansfield, and Douglas Aylward of Rowley. She was the sister of George Haas and Allan Haas of Weymouth, Evelyn Norris of Rockland, Doris Norris of Weymouth, Beverly Koffink of Braintree and the late Robert Haas and the late Richard Haas. She was the cousin of Edward Fisher of Weymouth and the sister-in-law of Arvard Brown of Quincy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as her life long dearest friend Edna DeGaetano of Candia, NH. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral from the South Weymouth McDonald Funeral Home at 809 Main Street, (Rt. 18) Wednesday at 9:00 followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Albert the Great Parish at 1130 Washington Street in Weymouth at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Donations in Bea's memory may be made to The American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to www.cancer.org.

Aunt Bea will always be remembered for her warm smile, gentle and caring demeanor, and her commitment to family and friends.
