Lucille Wales Obituary

Abington Lucille L. (Messier) Wales, 74 of Abington died July 15th in the South Shore Hospital, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of 53 years to Lawrence P. Wales of Abington. Lucille was born in Fall River, daughter of the late Henri and Bernadette (Blanchette) Messier. She was brought up in Weymouth and was a graduate of Weymouth High School, Class of 1952. Lucille and her husband Lawrence lived in Randolph for 7 years, before moving to Abington, where she has a resident for 45 years. After high school, Lucille worked as a payroll clerk for the Fore River Shipyard and in her later years, she worked as an assistant manager for a local jewelry store for 10 years. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, braided rugs, crocheting and reupholstering furniture. In addition to her beloved husband of 53 years, she is survived by her children, Thomas Wales, of Abington, Nancy Wales of Florida and Jennifer Dawber of Whitman, her brother and sister, Raymond Messier of Easton and Muriel Hoffman of Weymouth; also her grandchildren, Alisha Horan, Jacquelyn and Jonathan Ripley, Donald Wales, Rachel and Stephanie Dawber, Alex and Lars Arenburg. She was also the mother of the late Bradford Wales and Lynne Wales Ripley, grandmother of the late Kelly Lynne Pratt, sister of the late Richard Messier, Gilbert Messier and Louise Puopolo. Her services will be held Saturday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary), Whitman. The Rev. Susan Webster will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Visitation will be Friday July 18th from 2-4 and 7-9. For online condolences and directions visit wwwblanchardfc.com
