Sophia Lonergan Obituary

Braintree Sophia Ann (Palkowski) Lonergan, 89 years of age, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at her home following an extended illness. She was born and raised in Springfield where she graduated from High School. She hd resided in Newington, Connecticut before moving to Braintree in 1954. She was a retired salesperson at Filene's store at the South Shore Plaza where she had been employed for thirty years. She was a communicant of the Church of Saint Thomas More in Braintree. She was the wife of the late Francis "Frank" E. Lonergan who died in 1984. She was the loving mother of Susan F. Catalano married to Herbert F. Catalano of North Attleboro, Steven M. Lonergan married to Frances A. Lonergan of Marshfield and David E. Lonergan of Braintree. She was the devoted grandmother of Lisa M. Puccio of Bradford, VT, Daniel S. Lonergan and Steven I. Lonergan, both of Marshfield. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Thomas More, Elm Street and Hawthorn Road, BRAINTREE, on Friday at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington St., BRAINTREE. A procession will leave the funeral home on Friday at 8:15 a.m. and proceed to the Church of Saint Thomas More for the Funeral Mass. Memorial donations may be sent to the Beacon Hospice, 529 Main St., Charlestown, MA 02159.
